It's tough understanding God sometimes. OK. Now you get to say, 'Duh?!'So what's up with this. I was praying for a God Spot today. I really dig seeing spots. Anyway, I was coming back from Home Depot and a beggar standing on the street corner with his sign wanted money. I waited for God to tweak my heart. I got the tweak. I pulled out a buck and gave it to him and chatted up a conversation. He asked if I had work? I said, 'no' and followed up with where was he from? Where was home now? He asked again if I had work. I said, 'no' and the light changed. I waved good bye and drove off.
Then, it hit me. I needed help digging a ditch and this was a God Spot! I was in rush hour traffic and it took a few minutes to get around the block. I prayed for God to work out the circumstances because I was going to have difficulty hooking up with this guy in the traffic. Just minutes later, he was gone! Now, what's up with that?

Similar circumstances have happened to me. I have discovered that as God's word says in
1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
God is looking into my heart. What am I made of? What are my attitudes? Am I ready and willing in the spur of a moment to give effortlessly, to give what is asked for, to give unconditionally, to love the person in my heart that is standing outside my car window? What is my heart made of in that moment? I have failed so many times, but the great thing is that God is the God of 2nd chances - time after time after time after time (to infinity). SO, I "re-set" that default setting. I can't tell you how many times I've driven through to get tacos on my way to work and pass by a person holding a sign and didn't consider them. What is wrong with me? Haven't I learned yet?!!!
Anyways, hope that gives you some encouragement. God is the God of grace. We can't earn our way into heaven. It is finished!! We are already living it.
Be careful when you entertain strangers....
